The Commercial Arbitration Act 2010 (NSW) came into effect in New South Wales on 1 October 2010. This Act amends NSW law applying to domestic arbitrations to harmonise it with the law applying to international arbitration. -

Andrew Kincaid takes up new position in Muscat, OmanIn January, Andrew Kincaid left MTECC and the Victorian Bar, to take up a position as a Senior Lawyer at the Omani law firm, Said Al Shahry Law Office (often referred to as SASLO), where he is heading up their construction and arbitration group. His role is also likely to involve work in the other Gulf countries.

Changes to Arbitration in AustraliaA one day seminar titled "International Commercial Arbitration Efficient, Effective, Economic?" was held on 4 December 2009 at the RACV Club in Melbourne, Australia under the auspices of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration ("ACICA"). There was an array of presenters from Government, the legal profession including the judiciary, other professions and industry. MTECC Members attending the conference comprised Michael Heaton Q.C., Dr Donald Charrett and Albert Monichino.
